Rain, rain go away . . . Still raining. It seems the rain is following us. But here in the mountains it is actually really cool. The thunder echos off the mountains and sounds really cool. Kids are still bummed about no swimming, though.
Our first view of the Columbia River. Not very pretty at first. The further we went into Oregon, the greener things got.
Really cool windmills on top of the hills above the river. Miles of them.
We got lucky and got an incredible deal on a condo in Mt. Hood. Took us about 45 miles off the freeway, but totally worth it. We are nestled right in the heart of the mountains. The kids thought it was really cool that we drove right through the clouds to get here.
This is the view outside our condo right on the golf course.
Our condo has upstairs and downstairs, two seperate bedrooms, two living rooms and a full kitchen. This is us having dinner tonight. We could stay here the whole vacation and be totally happy! But tomorrow we head out to the coast. Not sure if we will have any internet access between now and next Thursday, so if we don't post that is why. Having a great time, even in the rain!!!

I grew up in that climate and never thought anything of all the rain. You may get quite a lot of it as you drive down the coast.
And I forgot to warn you about the first part of the gorge. It is rather bleak. But that's not the part anyone ever remembers!
That's great that you were able to get a nice condo! I thought it was really huge until I realized there was a mirrored wall!
Just remember, even if it is rainy, you need to go swim in the ocean! Most of the time when I was a young man and the family would go to the ocean, it was a least cloudy. We just ignored it and had a good time!
Condo on the golf course, can't get much better than that!! Did Dean get to go out and hit a few balls?
Kids are swimming this morning in the condo pool, rain and all. They just wouldn't let us swim last night because of the lightning. And my kids swam in the ocean when it was 50 degrees last fall, so we won't have any problem jumping in!
Dean didn't bring his golf clubs, so no luck. He was wishing, though!!
Today we head back down the Columbia River-the pretty part where all the waterfalls are. Hopefully we can post pics later.
If it makes you feel any better, we haven't had much of a break from the rain here either!
